Third sorting system delivered to PostNord in Sweden

A Nordic group offering communication and logistics solutions to, from and within the Nordic region, PostNord counts 38,000 employees and in 2014 the group delivered 5.3 billion mail items and 120 million parcels to the Nordic region’s 25 million residents and 2 million businesses.
Due to the evolution in customers’ needs and increased volumes of small parcels, PostNord launched in 2010 a program of significant investments to automate post terminals in Sweden, reduce operational costs and environmental impact, as well as increase efficiency in goods distribution and home deliveries.

In 2010, the first part of this ambitious project was awarded to Fives for a solution to sort bulky items and small packets. The first installation was completed in 2011 and provided the customer with a sorting capacity of 12,000pph; the second one was completed two years later with the same sorting capacity, but a larger number of destinations.

In September 2012, PostNord awarded the 3rd repeat order to Fives for the new post terminal located in Rosersberg, Sweden.

Operational since August 2014, the solution supplied by Fives is based on its proprietary cross belt technology and includes also tippers, conveyors and parcel singulators. The sorter is 198meters long with 280 destinations.

The customer used this Rosersberg facility as a showcase during the latest Post-Expo trade show hold in Stockholm in September 2014, and organized a guided tour to show the brand new state-of-the-art center. The visitors were particularly impressed by the ergonomics and quiet operations of the new system.
