GLS Enterprise selects Fives to supply sortation solutions for its depots
Fives was awarded several contracts by GLS Enterprise to supply handling systems for its depots located in Paderno Dugnano, Reggio Emilia and Cremona, and other locations in Italy.
GLS Enterprise is part of the GLS Group (General Logistics Systems), an express-courier player providing national and international courier services worldwide. The GLS Group is one of the three main companies in the Italian parcel express market for documents, parcels and pallets.
These projects are part of a GLS program to modernize existing depots and automate new ones, in order to face business increase.
The solution designed by Fives is based on a linear conveying system to sort parcels and packets at up to 2 m/sec equipped with bidirectional swiveler that carries out the merging and diverting functions.
The system includes the innovative EASY-captureTM as well as a new data management system.
EASY-captureTM is an “all-in-one” solution based on a belt conveyor equipped with a LFT integrated data capture system. Besides measuring weight and size, it reads barcodes and captures image of the conveyed items, fully automatically.
The new web-based data management system is readable by PC and mobile devices to collect and to aggregate information to improve customer’s performance of its intralogistics processes: it communicates in real time the diagnostic data of the equipment and processes operational and performance statistics.
When completed, the installations will enable GLS Enterprise to sort over 2,400 items per hour in each facility to 90 destinations each.
These contracts confirm the trust of customers in the reliability and good reputation of Fives and its Intralogistics teams, whose aim is to provide global solutions even for small and medium size express courier depots and agencies.
