Fives’ solution at the core of DHL Express’ new state-of-the-art air hub in Denmark
DHL Express, one of the world’s leading international express service providers, made a large-scale investment to build a new hub at Denmark’s Copenhagen Airport.
DHL Express awarded Fives the contract to automate this new infrastructure. The decision to award Fives, was a result of the strong collaboration and understanding between the two teams - starting from the proposal phase – guiding DHL towards the optimal system layout to guarantee increased operational efficiencies and performance of the entire solution.
The hub will significantly improve the speed and quality of DHL Express’ activities in the region: it will be able to handle nearly 37,000 items per hour.
Fives’ will provide a turnkey sorting solution based on the cross-belt technology to handle parcels and flyers for both land and air operations. Three GENI-Belt sorters, stretching over 1 km in length, will be the core of the system. They will be equipped with 15 GENI-Feed induction lines, various types of chutes and X-Ray machines.
The new handling system, developed to strengthen DHL’s European network, will be operational in 2022.
